Proto.io is a new service that comes with the promise of delivering “silly-fast mobile prototyping”, and that’s exactly what it does. It lets even people whose developing skills still have a long way to go create mobile prototypes that are highly detailed, and which are just a hair shy of what the finished apps would really look like. It’s all done in the browser, using a streamlined interface that lets them experience all the events, interactions and transitions of the apps they’ve built on all the main mobile platforms of the day.
And once developers are satisfied with the results of these browser-based simulations, then they can proceed to have the apps they’ve built tested on the actual devices they’ve created them for.
The basic version of Proto.io is free, and it’s limited to one active project, and only one editor per app. It’s also quite limited in terms of storage (only 10 MB). The two paid versions of the service (“Plus” and “Pro”) obviously move well beyond these boundaries, letting you have an unlimited number of editors and a much wider number of active projects per month. Pricing starts at $24.
