ProofHQ is a web-based proofing system that streamlines the process of collaborative review and approval. It can be used to proof documents, designs and artwork.
Most people use email and attachments to manage review and approval, because email is just so easy to send. We designed ProofHQ to make sending proofs as easy as using email, especially with the “drag-and-drop” desktop Uploadr tool. However, email is not very good at tracking responses from reviewers, so ProofHQ handles feedback more efficiently than email by capturing all reviewers’ comments online rather than in multiple email replies and attachments.
Users can create proofs for very large files (up to 75MB), which would challenge most email systems. When a proof is created reviewers receive an email with a simple URL to the online proof. The proof is viewed in a standard browser using Flash. No software download is needed.
To solve the problem of downloading large proofs to a browser and give reviewers fast access to their proofs, ProofHQ streams the proof in a series of tiled layers (like Google maps) so that reviewers only download the part of the proof that they need to see, at the zoom level they have requested. The streaming architecture enables fast panning and zooming around proofs and moving from page-to-page.
Reviewers add mark-ups and comments to the proof, and can then create discussion threads around each others’ feedback. This speeds up collaboration, clarification and resolving team issues.
Proof managers get much better tracking and follow-up than email. ProofHQ provides a workflow and dashboard that enables manager to set deadlines for reviews, track reviewers’ comments and discussions and send reminders. ProofHQ provides version control, so that new versions of a proof can be uploaded and reviewers can see old versions and new versions together for comparison.
As an added bonus, ProofHQ lets users send large files via the web, which is function that often takes place during or at the end of the proof process.
