Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket players will soon be able to trade cards with each other. The Pokémon Company announced that trading will be added to the game in January 2025. However, not all cards will be tradable right away.
The game’s operations team said they will start with “certain cards” and slowly add more over time. “We are planning to gradually expand the selection of cards that are able to be traded,” the team wrote. Trading has been a highly requested feature since TCG Pocket launched in October.
The game has been a huge success, with over 30 million downloads worldwide. While trading is exciting, it could also change the game in a big way. The Pokémon Company acknowledged this at a press event in November.
Trading added to Pokémon TCG Pocket
“We know introducing trading into a game all about collection is going to have significant implications,” a representative said. “We want to see how people are playing the game and what the best way we could do this in a way that makes sense would be.”
In addition to trading, new booster packs will be added to TCG Pocket by the end of this year.
The exact date was not given. The game launched with over 200 cards for players to collect and battle with. Some of the best cards include Mewtwo ex, Gardevoir, Lilligant, Starmie ex, Misty, X Speed, Sabrina, and Professor’s Research.
Each card has its own strengths and can be used in different ways to create powerful decks. For example, Mewtwo ex deals high damage and works well with Gardevoir’s ability. Lilligant is great for Grass-type decks, while Starmie ex is useful for its lack of retreat cost.
As TCG Pocket continues to grow, players can look forward to more features and cards in the future. The Pokémon Company has not announced specific plans but said that other updates are in development.
