The Democracy Space Station (DSS) in Helldivers 2 has faced significant backlash from players due to its high rate of friendly fire casualties. The DSS was introduced as a powerful strategic tool, allowing players to vote on its movements and fund actions like Planetary Bombardment. However, the bombardment has proven to be inaccurate, resulting in many team-friendly casualties.
Players have expressed their frustration on Reddit, with one describing the experience as being deemed a “traitor” for going outside the map boundaries. Another lamented that the DSS does nothing but team kill. Developer Arrowhead has acknowledged the issue, calling the DSS a “team-killing nightmare.” As a temporary fix, they are providing players with extra lives and free shields.
Players call DSS a nightmare
The Planetary Bombardment action tab now includes an increase in Reinforcement Budget and adds the FX-12 Shield Generator Relay Stratagem to all loadouts. Arrowhead is conducting a full assessment to determine a permanent solution.
They urge players to “weather the storm” while they work on a fix. The Helldivers 2 community remains hopeful that a resolution will make the DSS the asset it was intended to be, without the steep cost of friendly lives. Until then, the promise of a powerful space station remains unfulfilled, causing frustration among players.
Despite the current issues with the DSS, Helldivers 2 continues to be enjoyed for its cooperative gameplay. Players synergize their loadouts and strategize together to complete objectives in this intensely collaborative experience.
