Do we need more services for sharing images using Twitter? It seems some people think we do. Otherwise, it is a bit hard to find a legitimate reason for Pictuit’s existence.
It lets you do exactly what services like Twitpic let you do, without any kind of improvement on the basic service that is rendered. You log in using your Twitter credentials, you upload a picture, and then you add a micro message to go with the picture as you send it out.
Does it work? The answer is “Yes”. Does it let you do something that other services can’t do already? The answer is a resounding “No”.
I frankly can’t realize who would want to use this service since there are other longer-standing alternatives available. It is not that the service is “bad”. It is not. If all the sites that let you do something similar disappeared in a vacuum we would all use it willingly, because it does its job as it should. It is just that (as it stands right now) it does not improve over its many competitors in any way or the other. Maybe it will as time goes on, though. I would personally love to see that. But in its current state, the site is unremarkable.
