I am quite good when it comes to quotes, but I had never heard the one by Ford Madox Ford propounding that the whole quality of a book can be judged by reading its page 99 only. That sounds a bit arbitrary to me – it makes me think of that guide for doing crosswords I read once that claimed the key to a crossword was always found in the lower right corner. But if you do think that what Mr. Madox Ford said is indeed accurate, then you are going to find this site worth a try.
Basically, it is made up of nothing but page 99s both from published and unpublished authors. The idea is that anybody can read these for free, and (based solely on them) determine the quality of the full books.
You know, this site makes some sense inasmuch a random page from within the book is never as elaborate as the cover, or the first chapter. If you look at it all from that angle, the site is interesting. Personally, I will always feel that it is too arbitrary for its own good. But it is an original way to come across new books to read, and I have to reckon it.

Some Questions About Page99Test.com
If people who are yet unpublished know they will be judged based on a single (and specific) page, what guarantee do we have they are not going to labor at it harder just to grab our attention?
