NVIDIA is preparing to launch its new GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card in mid-January. Multiple sources have confirmed that the RTX 5080 will be the first model released in NVIDIA’s upcoming Blackwell lineup. The RTX 5080 will feature 16 GB of GDDR7 memory with speeds up to 32 Gbps.

It is expected to be unveiled soon after CES. The launch timing of the RTX 5090 is less certain. It is anticipated to debut just a few weeks after the RTX 5080, likely by the end of January or mid-February.

The RTX 5090 is rumored to come with the GB202-300 GPU, boasting 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 memory. The RTX 5080 will feature the GB203-400 GPU with 10,752 CUDA cores and 16GB of memory. NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, is expected to present the new high-end GPUs during the CES event.

Both desktop and laptop versions of these GPUs will be showcased. This launch strategy marks a departure from previous ones where the 90-class GPUs debuted first.

NVIDIA’s latest release schedule

The RTX 5080’s early release follows feedback from the RTX 4090’s success. High-end gamers will also see the RTX 5090 follow closely behind. Reports suggest the RTX 5090, along with a variant model, the RTX 5090D, will be available by the end of January or mid-February 2025.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 will be available in both Founders Edition and partner variants. The same is expected for the RTX 5090 upon its release. ACER Predator gaming PCs with the new GPUs were briefly listed for sale by a German retailer.

The version equipped with a GeForce RTX 5090 32GB and Core Ultra 9 285K was listed at €5,999. It also comes with 128GB DDR5. The system with the RTX 5080 16GB, Core Ultra 7 265KF CPU, and 32GB DDR5 memory costs €3,499.

However, these are most likely placeholder prices. Stay tuned for more information and official announcements from NVIDIA in the coming weeks as they continue their launch preparations.
