Startup Notches is offering a free, open source reviews platform. Their goal is to form an impartial review system that’s integrated across the internet.
This means that any reviews written on any of Notches’ network sites will be integrated into the entire Notches system. The platform is open for virtually any type of review: technology, music, products, restaurants, stores, people, etc. It also supports a variety of rating formats, e.g stars, thumbs up, school style grading. Notches has two applications based on its review platform. The first is a Facebook app which allows users to request reviews from their pals, to read through others’ reviews and to write your own. Notches has also developed an app for Twitter which allows for real time reviews.
Notch.es In Their Own Words
“Notches is a free, open, universal platform for reviews. We’re building a network of applications, partners and cool tools. Reviews written in any of the network’s sites will be part of the Notches system everywhere. All the pieces share a common back-end which handles the heavy lifting.”
Why Notch.es It Might Be A Killer
Notches is supplying a new platform for reviews, which is quite ambitious, but potentially groundbreaking. It’s an interesting concept. On one hand, it brings in a standard for review, while at the same time opening up reviews to the world.
Some Questions About Notch.es
Is there a market for this? Will this standardize reviews or will it allow for a proliferation of reviews? Do we even need more reviews?
