Realtors can be of lots of help, no doubt about that, but as most things good in life, they are not free, so if you’re moving to New York (or already live there and are changing apartments) and are up to some budget-intelligent moves, take a look at this site, a listing service for apartments for rent by their owners, which means that you won’t have to pay for realtor services, and thus save same bucks on the process. The service is rather limited for the time being, as they carry information on properties only in the Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens areas.
Just click on the area of your preference, and you’ll get access to the classifieds listing all the facilities and amenities of the apartments, location plus rental price; in order to get the information on the landlord, you’ll have to choose between different membership plans (30, 60 or 90 days), and foot that bill, which seems like a rather intelligent move, considering the overall savings you’ll make in the medium and long run. I was happy to see that the site allows users to preview their results, as it is always a good starting point to allow people to check if the results they will get are what they are looking for before actually charging them. I didn’t see any pictures or maps of the listed apartments, which is a feature other free listing services do present. I wonder if they can consider including some in the site.
