Nintendo has released a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, showcasing the game’s story, characters, and new content. The game is set for release on March 20, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch. The trailer reveals that the game takes place in the year 2054, after Earth has been destroyed by an intergalactic war.

The survivors have escaped aboard the USS White Whale and crash-landed on the planet Mira. Players take on the role of a member of BLADE, tasked with helping humanity recover from the brink of extinction. The trailer highlights the vast and dangerous areas of Mira that players can explore, as well as the powerful, pilotable robots called Skells that they can use in combat against the alien threat known as the Ganglion.

The trailer also teases newly added content that players can look forward to in this definitive edition.

Fans have expressed excitement about the game’s improved visuals and user interface, which addresses some of the issues with the original Wii U release.

The fonts are larger, and the on-screen information is more spread out and easier to understand, particularly for the game’s complex Overdrive system. The trailer also hints at new story content, with a hooded figure shown on a beach at the end, suggesting that the game may continue the story of the original Wii U release. Fans are speculating that this new content could be similar in scope to the Future Redeemed expansion for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which helped tie that game into the other entries in the franchise.
