Ncsl.org offers a variety of services to help lawmakers in the US tailor policies that will work for their states and their constituents.
This site offers its services by allowing its members to adequately search for background information in any initiative they might be up to, presenting them with relevant data from similar projects in other areas of the country, a large library of legislative and legal publications, and allow them to meet other legislators and social actors (organizations, corporations, NPOs, etc) who are looking into promoting similar projects, etc. The site is very clearly organized, and it is easy to search around, although it is clear that it’s target-audience is comfortable in a legal environment, as that is much of what is discussed in this site. The site carries it’s own bookstore and news section, to which users can subscribe via newsletter format (no RSS feeds available for the time being). Also, users are encouraged to sign in as members, and as such they will be able to generate their own profile where to store relevant pieces of information, bill drafts and follow-up of their personal initiatives.
