Established in the year 2000, the National Business Center is a service provider at the behest of the United Department of the Interior. It gathers together the former Interior Service Center, the U.
S. Geological Survey’s Washington Administrative Service Center, and the Bureau of Reclamations’ Denver Administrative Service Center. The merging of these three bodies makes for a centralized organization which is able to bring shared services while maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. The organization supports Offices and Bureaus within the Department, and it also provides services to federal agencies outside the Department, particularly in the areas of business management systems and services. These include appraisal, human resource, and information technology services. Other available services include aviation management, e-Government, and education & performance support. The site also lists the Strategic Plan that the NBC puts into effect in order to provide general administrative and management support. A Press Room is also part of the site, and it showcases the latest activities undertaken by the organization.
