This site is home for a non-profit organization whose aim is to help other organizations concerned with wildlife conservation by providing extensive information and research on plants and animals in North and Latin America, and the Caribbean as well. The site is very nicely designed, and anyone can use their information archives to find extensive details on endangered species which include both scientific and common names, conservation status (aka ‘the bad news’), distribution maps, a database of images, and lots of information on research and general data as well, most of which is perfectly understandable for an average person, so the site will be of use not only for activists, biologists or higher education students, but for kids in elementary school who are up to some natural sciences project, and the general public as well.
NatureServe also publishes a proprietary data management software designed specifically for observation and conservation projects called Biotics, and you can learn about it from the site and find the contact details to get a copy of it. If you are more interested in seeing or learning about their ongoing research projects, you will be able to find a detailed list of them on the site, listing projects in the US and Latin America too.
