Israeli AI start-up Nagish recently secured $11 million in Series A funding from a consortium of investors, including Canaan Partners, K5 Global, and Tokyo Black. This capital infusion will fuel innovations in Nagish’s AI technology and facilitate the scaling of its team and product offering.

The investment community’s confidence in Nagish’s vision and capabilities is evident from the active participation of esteemed venture capital firms and tech company founders in this funding round. The funds will be used to advance Nagish’s AI algorithms, enhance customer service, and expand market penetration.

This successful round marks a momentous milestone for Nagish, affirming its place as a leading force in Israel’s abundant tech start-up scene. It underscores the global fascination with AI solutions, indicating a bright future for the AI market.

With this new investment, Nagish aims to leverage its $16 million in total funds to develop augmented communication solutions for over a billion individuals globally confronting hearing and speech challenges. This capital boost will facilitate the creation of more advanced technology to remove communication barriers.

Before Nagish, people with hearing and speech difficulties relied on not-so-efficient relay services.

Nagish’s strides in AI-powered communication

Nagish, however, transitioned this approach by offering real-time, automated transcription, thus mitigating the need for a third-party relay service and enabling effective communication.

US conglomerate Comcast and retail titan Amazon patronize Nagish’s offerings. The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has also sanctioned Nagish as a provider of automatic simultaneous translation services. The company’s technologies have been embedded in the operational frameworks of multinationals like Microsoft and Pfizer, enhancing their communication avenues across various languages and regions.

The company’s CEO, Tomer Aharoni, visualizes substantial growth in the future, thanks to a potential market worth about $2 billion in the US alone. Nagish also hopes to branch out to countries like Canada, Japan, and Australia due to their active government programs advocating for the employment of differently-abled individuals.

Nagish’s roots trace back to a leisure project by Columbia University Computer Science graduates Tomer Aharoni and Alon Ezer. The firm evolved in response to the heightened demand for communication tools for the hearing-impaired during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its success thus far points towards a promising future in its global journey to bridge communication gaps.
