MyAbodo is a fun game that does a great job of educating its users on ways to live a more green lifestyle through its entertaining interactive approach. You can create your own home and choose what you do there, and with each click and choice you make, you can easily see how your actions affect your environment.
How much water and energy are used and how much waste is created are shown for each decoration choice you make. You can actually visually see your waste accumulate, or the sky get brighter if you choose to garden versus order take out. When choosing the various decorations in your house, you are also given little educational tidbits. So, when choosing your car, they let you know that the average family car goes about 7.5 miles per litre of gas, while that same amount of energy used in riding your bike would take you 643 miles. It’s a great educational tool and makes learning about how to be green into a game.
MyAbodo.com In Their Own Words

When you’re done, join an abodo neighbourhood, share your abodo with other people, and get started with changing the world for real.”
Why MyAbodo.com It Might Be A Killer
It’s a lot of fun and makes learning about being green something I’d spend far more time figuring out versus just reading an article or list of tips. Seeing your impact visually definitely motivates people more than just reading the words. They have a bunch of sponsors supporting them as well, and I’m sure they could find more throughout the green community.
Some Questions About MyAbodo.com
Will people use this site versus other green sites? Will people take what they’ve learned and apply it, or just think of it as a game and continue living their lives in the same energy draining way? Will they add other features to the site to keep people coming back, or do they just want it as more of a site people visit a couple times, learn, and then are done with?
