Mopho.to is a new location-based service that is taking an approach that differs slightly from the check-ins that characterize some of the major players in the scene such as Foursquare.
You see, Mopho.to lets you make your location public by way of photographs. Yes, that’s it. When you want to do the equivalent to a check-in using this new social service, all you have to do is take a photograph and geotag it. That is made possible thanks to the free app that is provided, and I think the expression “social photography” did never hold its own like this before.
Whenever you take and upload a picture, the photo is pushed to all your friends on Facebook. (That is possible because the system supports Facebook connect, of course.) And when that happens, your friends are given the chance to follow your footsteps in pictures. It goes without saying that everybody has the opportunity to comment on each other’s photographs. What good is a social service that doesn’t make room for some chitter-chatter, after all? And the site also lets you favorite the images that your friends have uploaded, so all the basic angles are satisfactorily covered already.
Mopho.to In Their Own Words
“Don’t just tell your friends where you are – show them!”
Why Mopho.to It Might Be A Killer
Such a platform stands as a novel way to network. It’s good for a change, basically.
