ModernAgenda.com In Their Own Words
“Modern Agenda is a free guide for the Modern Design enthusiast, tracking Modern Buildings, Shops, Events and more. The site aims to become the definitive resource for all things Modern. The site was created by Michael Gurley–Chicago native and Modernist junky.
Have you ever wanted to know:
• Where are the Modern Design shops in a city?
• When is the next Modern Auction?
• What organizations promote and preserve Modern design?
• Where are the important Modern buildings in a city?
• What magazines report on Modern design?
Well, I have! But I couldn’t find a website that answered these questions, so I decided to build one that did.
Modern Agenda was inspired by the profiles of Modernist destinations in Dwell, Modernism and Walpaper. I love these profiles but feel that the magazine format limits their full potential. The site aims to overcome those limitations by being free, up-to-date and comprehensive.
I have big plans for the site. Here are some of the features I plan to add:
• Search
• RSS/Atom syndication
• Forums
• Maps
• Let users create their own agenda.
• Furniture Gallery
• Recommend books
Enjoy the site!”

Some Questions About ModernAgenda.com
ModernAgenda.com could use some modern graphics and a modern logo for its site. The site design is pretty elementary, ModernAgenda.com would be a more attractive site with modern graphics and a detailed logo. ModernAgenda.com could include links to bios of artists. For example when you look at the architect section, after seeing the building and reading information on the history of the building, it lists the name of the architect, but when you click on the architects name it brings you back to the architect menu. It would be a great feature if when you clicked on the architects name you were directed to his/her website or a ModernAgenda page that had a bio and a list of other buildings this architect designed. Also in the shop section, the site only provides photos of shops in Chicago, not in other cities. It would be great to have an image for every shop. Once ModernAgenda.com expands does it plan on including other US cities in its directory?
