Mixpo is a personal publishing tool to help small businesses market their service through digital videos (which are like personalized widgets). Called MixCards, the site helps you create a marketing video with actual video footage and/or a photo montage with music.
You can then post these MixCards to your blog or website (they have easy links to Google Live Space, Typepad, Blogger, Friendster, and MySpace). Unfortunately, you do have to install the publisher on your computer for a faster download of photos and video, but otherwise the site is simple and walks you through the creation process. They also have a diverse array of examples of other MixCards, which definitely help explain the product and its interesting possibilities. You can easily edit and modify your MixCard when you want. Mixpo has at least $6.5 in venture capital funding.

Why Mixpo.com It Might Be A Killer
While initially skeptical, I quickly changed my mind when I saw some of the small business MixCards. When you can show a store and its services or products – as well as the owners/employees – it makes the business come alive and feel personal in a much different way than just photos or text. You can also market your business by posting these MixCards in different locations, like any other widget, increasing your exposure to potential clients.

Have they collected any empirical data about the effectiveness of these MixCards? The examples are great, but I believe testimonials to accompany these sample videos would be even more powerful. Is there any way to make this system web-based, so people don’t have to install an application? How are they going to make a profit?
