Marshall.org – The George C. Marshall Institute

Marshall.orgFounded in 1984, the George C. Marshall Institute (GMI) is a non-lucrative organization which has the objective of improving the use of science when it comes to public policy issues.

The current program of the organization focuses on national security and the environment. At its roots, the George C. Marshall Institute aims to help policy makers distinguish between mere opinion and scientific facts, so that decisions on public policy matters are based on factual scientific information, instead of unproven hypotheses or arbitrary opinions. To these effects, the Institute publishes reports and is responsible for roundtables and workshops. All of these features are detailed on its website, found at marshall.org. The studies conducted by the GMI can be consulted online, and the site has a navigation menu that lets the visitor browse through sections such as “Environment” and “National Defense”. These sections contain pages called “Climate Change” and “Civic Environmentalism”; and “Bioterrorism” and “Missile Defense” respectively. Marshall.org
