Remember back in elementary school when you made time capsules and buried them in the ground, so that future generations might one day discover more about the past? Well, MailFreezr has kind of the same idea, only for email. Instead of putting physical objects into a box and placing them under the earth, you can use MailFreezr to write an email that will be delivered to a designated recipient on a designated future date.
You can have your message delivered in a year, or up to 100 years from the date of creation. To send a message, simply fill out the fields provided as you would for any normal email (your name and address, the recipient’s address, the subject, and the text body itself). MailFreezr is a free service, and no registration is required.
MailFreezr.com In Their Own Words
“MailFreezr.com is a service, which saves your email and will deliver it to your recipient through given number of years.
Imagine yourself, how would be pleasure for your folks to receive the message from you written a hundred years ago, when you will in the world beyond? ;)
Write about your feelings, declare your love, confess in something, what you afraid or don’t dare to tell now… Just anything :)”.
Why MailFreezr.com It Might Be A Killer
There could be several fun and endearing ways of utilizing this service; for instance, it would be cool to write a letter to your best friend while you’re in college, talking about all the great times you’ve had, then having it delivered to them ten years down the road. MailFreezr also mentions that its service is a good way to tell loved ones how much you care for them; it would make for a nice reminder in the future about how much you’ve appreciated someone’s presence in your life.
Some Questions About MailFreezr.com
My first thoughts were, “No one is going to have the same email address probably even 5 years down the road, much less 100. By then we probably will have moved on to a much more advanced way of communicating anyway”. In theory, I guess this is a cute idea, but in practice, not very realistic, in my opinion.
