Lontor Hi-Tech Development Company, a subsidiary of Choice International Group, has launched a renewable energy system to reduce electricity costs amidst rising energy expenses in Nigeria. The Residential Energy Storage System (RESS), which is solar-based, can decrease energy costs by about 80%. Nigerians with about 20 hours of electricity daily pay approximately N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h).

The new RESS will provide a constant electricity supply at N40 per KW/h. Several distributors and residents participated in the launch event, themed “Power your lifestyle. “ Key figures in attendance included the Managing Director of Lontor, Mr. Roamen Lin, Senior Marketing Manager Larry Long, and Senior Sales Managers Mrs. Doris Du and Mr. Kizito Okhaifoh. At the event, Larry Long mentioned that the company has been operational in Nigeria for over 20 years, expanding its range from torches and rechargeable fans to various household appliances like air fryers, blenders, energy-conserving air conditioners, and more. Highlighting the benefits of the new product, Long stated, “People are paying N200 to N250 per unit of electricity, but with this solar system, you will spend N40 per unit.”

Kizito Okhaifoh elaborated on the renewable energy system, which consists of an inverter and lithium battery, all integrated into one unit.

He pointed out that this launch marks the first in Abuja, targeting the North Central market. Doris Du provided specifics about the inverter, which comes in three categories: 2.56KWh for basic household items, 5kWh for appliances like washing machines and air conditioners, and 10kWh for powering entire residential apartments. She emphasized the product’s high-quality, sleek design, and user-friendly features.

The system promises flexible battery expansion, multiple power sources, seamless switch-over within 20-10 milliseconds, and sleep-grade noise levels. The inverters, once fully charged, can last for three days non-stop, and the batteries have a lifespan of 8 to 10 years, with a 3,000-cycle span. The launch event also featured a raffle draw, where dealers and buyers won attractive gifts ranging from N100,000 to N1 million.
