In case the term is new to you (it was to me), a vortex is a bar that is not usually listed on tourist guides.
The definition that is given on the site is a lot of fun, and they cite lack of mobile phone coverage, lack of people who speak any understandable language and lack of credit card payment options as a Vortex’s defining features. The enumeration goes on, though, and “lack of air, lack of light and a lack of responsibility” are finally mentioned as vital elements of one such venue. I think the concept is more than clear now, isn’t it? And I bet that you also have a clear idea by now if such a place is for you or not. Personally, I know I am not getting near one in my lifetime. I have some limits that are all too-clearly delineated. You might tell a different story, though, and that is why I thought this site was worth sharing with everybody.
