Localconnections is yet another social networking site, this one focusing on geographic areas and trying to build neigbhorhood connections. They aim to help neighbors learn about local events, find items for sale, learn new restaurant recommendations, meet other neighbors, and yes, even date.
The site is clearly aimed at an older, professional crowd….which is a welcome change. However, based on a cursory review, the site was suitable enough, but somewhat bland and without a lot of action. I think the whole social networking genre is hitting a peak and needs some new innovation to keep people interested in these kinds of forums, particularly if you are not of the 18-15 set.

Why Localconnections.com It Might Be A Killer
While I was not particularly intrigued or impressed by this site, I continue to remind myself that social networking sites are still big business in the internet world. This site is clean, professional and certainly has good intentions, so it may catch some fire after being around for a while.
Some Questions About Localconnections.com
How are they marketing this site? I put in “San Diego” do to a local search and not much of anything pulled up…no restaurant recommendations, no social profiles, nothing. Maybe I just did the search wrong, but I sense this site is still trying to build its clientele. Also, what distinguishes this site from the myriad of other social networking sites based on local destinations? In other words, why would I go here to find a great restaurant in San Diego when there are a ton of great community websites for restaurant recommendations that already exist out there?
