There’s many online communities for photographers and digital artists already available, and I wouldn’t blame you if you questioned if we really need any more. Just earlier this week I reviewed one named Floggia. And guess what? They keep on coming along. Limitedpix is the newest community for photographers and digital artists to surface. But fortunately for its creators (and also for us), Limitedpix gives its members the chance to do something that not all social photography sites let people do: sell their work.
Limitedpix is as much of a marketplace as it is a site to hang around and connect with like-minded people. As its creators themselves explain, the site aims to gather talented artists from all over the world, and let them exchange comments as well as exhibiting and selling their own original artwork.
The site’s free to join, and the value of the pieces which are sold is determined using an algorithm of its very own. This looks at how popular a work is with other people, and it gives it a price based on nothing but that. In practice, this means nobody could get away with overpricing his work. Everybody’s supposedly equal here. And that alone makes the site worth a look, both if you are a young artist and if you have been around for quite some time already.
