LG has unveiled a new lineup of premium OLED gaming monitors ahead of CES 2025. The standout model is the 45-inch UltraGear 45GX990A, the world’s first 5K2K-resolution monitor with a unique bendable design. This monitor can mechanically adjust its curvature from 900R to flat, accommodating different seating positions or usage scenarios.

The 45GX990A has already received three CES 2025 Innovation awards, including the prestigious ‘Best of Innovation’ accolade. It is described as “an all-in-one smart gaming monitor powered by LG webOS,” signifying its capability for both gaming and streaming video. Both the bendable 45GX990A and its non-bending counterpart, the 45GX950A, feature a 5,120 x 2160 resolution with a 21:9 native aspect ratio.

They are designed to reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions, thanks to LG’s proprietary Anti-Glare and Low Reflection coating, and certification for low blue light emissions. The monitors also feature the second generation of LG’s Dual-Mode technology, which allows for customizable aspect ratios (21:9 or 16:9) and multiple image sizes (39, 34, or 27 inches). Users can easily switch between eight different screen resolution and refresh rate combinations.

The monitors support a native 165Hz refresh rate at maximum resolution, which can be increased to 330Hz at a lower resolution of 2560×1080.

LG’s versatile new gaming monitor

The UltraGear 45GX950A maintains a fixed curvature of 800R and a native 5K2K resolution.

Both models boast a 0.03ms GtG response time and high-brightness OLED screens rated to True Black 400 by VESA’s DisplayHDR certification standard. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1, with support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVidia G-Sync. Audio features include DTS Headphone:X, and a USB-C port with 90W power delivery for device charging.

In addition to the 45-inch models, LG is also introducing the 39-inch UltraGear 39GX90SA. This model features a 21:9 aspect ratio with a fixed 800R curvature. It retains many features of the larger models, such as HDMI 2.1, USB type C port, webOS, 0.03ms response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro/Nvidia G-Sync support.

It also holds the VESA DisplayHDR True Black rating of 400. However, its refresh rate is capped at 240Hz, it lacks Dual-Mode technology, and its resolution is WQHD rather than the WUHD of the 45-inch models. No pricing information for LG’s new UltraGear monitors has been released yet.

More details are expected to emerge soon.
