The Nintendo Switch 2 photos that recently leaked online are “almost certainly real,” according to the tech experts at Digital Foundry. The images showcase what appears to be the next iteration of Nintendo’s popular gaming console. The leaked photos first appeared on Chinese social media and quickly spread to Reddit, Resetera, and the rest of the internet.

They include pictures of what seems to be the real Joy-Cons and a PCB. While these photos don’t reveal much definitive information, the Joy-Cons appear to have magnetic attachments instead of the rails used in the original Switch, as has been rumored. If these renders are accurate, the Switch 2 will feature two USB-C ports, one on the top and one on the bottom, for docking purposes.

Leaked photos hint at Switch 2

The new console is expected to be slightly larger than the original Switch, with a screen approximately 8 inches in size diagonally. Though the authenticity of these photos can’t be confirmed, there are claims that they match what Nintendo has told partners to expect from the new design.

This aligns with widespread expectations that the new model will essentially be a bigger version of the current Switch. It has been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch successor will be revealed before April 2025. Earlier this year, rumors suggested that last month’s combined Partner Showcase and Indie World presentation indicated Nintendo was preparing for an announcement this month.

While that has yet to materialize, there’s still time left in the month for an official reveal. We’ll have to wait and see if Nintendo confirms the legitimacy of these leaked photos and provides more details about the highly anticipated Switch 2.
