The internet is oozing blatantly horrible pictures, and it seems a rather unstoppable wave of still natures and landscapes is here to stay, and although there’s nothing much to do about it, you can ease your sight and good taste by visiting this site, home for a print photography magazine with a great flair to it: the editorial process is social. Here’s how it works: as most photo-showcase publications, JPG Magazine’s issues are themed, so they deal with one topic per issue, only instead of having a team of photographers on an assignment, these guys have a community of amateur and professional photographers who upload hi-res images, sort them into categories (themes), and vote and review their peer’s submissions.
Though high voting scores doesn’t forcefully imply the images will make it to the print magazine, there is a high chance they will, which in turn means that the person who uploaded the image(s) will get a cash reward and a year-long subscription to JPG Magazine. You can browse the site without registering, though you need to have an account to upload stuff and vote. By visiting JPGmag.com, you can also browse selected past issues of the magazine, become a subscriber, or learn where to get your copy from.
