Jottle is a service that takes the “good” aspects of Chat Roulette (IE, the excitement of meting up with a random stranger) and leaves the questionable ones outside (namely the nudity and the freakiness) in order to provide everybody with a safer and saner environment for communicating.
That is achieved by using facial recognition technology that ensures nothing inappropriate will be show when you are connected with somebody new.
If the person is not showing his face, he won’t be accepted. And the same applies to you, of course. This face screening is removed after having chatted for at least 30 seconds, and you will be able to start receiving unrestricted video from your partner. And that is also accomplished by pushing a “Trust” button that is part of Jottle’s interface.
All in all, this is an interesting take on random chat services. Of course, the system is not foolproof – nothing can guarantee the other person won’t do anything inappropriate when the “Trust” period has been reached. But it is a nice try in any case.
