You’d be surprised at the many things you had no idea of about Iran after you’ve taken a brief look at this site. Built and kept by a non-profit, non political, and non-religious group by the name of Iranian Chamber, this site is not at all about politics, but rather more interesting stuff linked to history, culture, heritage and social life in Iran and Persia (that’s what Iran was called for the longest part of its existence).
The site is very attractively designed and it completely lacks advertisements, plus it comprises a variety of interesting features; take a look, for instance, at the page on cuneiform script: not only will you be able to learn a thing or two about it, but get to download fonts for your computer. You can also explore the visual arts section, where slideshows and videos will allow you to gain some quick insight on the past and present of Iranian painting and sculpture. In all sections, users will be able to find an extensive library of scholar and journalistic articles dealing with topics as varied and interesting as literature, politics or women’s issues. Biographies and links to original works are usually available, as is a directory of government and official sites, together with maps, a law library and an index of Iranian media websites.
