iOS release

Apple released iOS 18 on September 16, 2024. It offers many new features for iPhone users. One of these features is enhanced functionality for the Control Center.

The update allows you to transform your Control Center into a hub for all your favorite controls and apps. Control Center was first introduced in 2013. It provided easy access to essential functions like screen brightness and a few apps such as the calculator.

Over the years, Apple has allowed users to add more functions and apps, such as Low Power Mode and Notes. With iOS 18, you have even more flexibility to customize your Control Center. Here’s how you can add controls to your Control Center in iOS 18:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
  2.  Tap the plus sign in the top left corner of your screen.
  3. Add a control near the bottom of your screen. You can either search for controls in the search bar across the top of the new menu or scroll through the available options.

Some of the controls include old favorites like Screen Recording, as well as new ones such as Tap to Cash or Ping My Watch. There’s also a shortcut called Open App, which allows any other app on your iPhone to be added as a control. Once you’ve filled the first Control Center page, adding more controls will create new pages.

Customizing Control Center

You can navigate between these pages by swiping up or down on the Control Center or tapping the page symbol on the far right side of the screen. You can also customize the size and arrangement of the controls.

To do this:

1. Unlock your iPhone and swipe down from the top right corner of your screen. 2.

Tap the plus sign in the top left corner of your screen. 3. In this new view, tap and drag the thicker section at the bottom right corner of each control to resize it.

To rearrange controls, press and drag them to their new location within your Control Center, just as you would on your home screen. If you want to remove controls from your Control Center:

1. Unlock your iPhone and swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.

2. Tap the plus sign in the top left corner of your screen. 3.

Tap the minus sign in the top left corner of the control you want to remove. Unfortunately, there’s no way to reset your Control Center back to its default layout and controls at this time. However, the beta version of iOS 18 introduces a way for developers and beta testers to do this, so Apple might offer this feature soon.

Apple plans to release iOS 18.1 update on Monday, October 28. For more on iOS 18, check out detailed reviews and cheat sheets to explore all the new features coming to your iPhone.
