Inside out is a global art project that lets anybody turn messages of personal identity into fully-fledged artistic works. Those who take part of this project are enabled to upload portraits and have them turned into posters that will be mailed to them, so that they can be used to decorate their homes, their offices and just any old place where others could see them.
These digitally uploaded photos have to be in black and white, and they can be submitted both by individual users and by collectives that want to make a statement.
And the idea is to document the contexts in which the posters are put up, and one day assemble a sort of archive where everything can be viewed virtually, even by people who are located at the opposite end of the world. They will see how Inside Out posters have been used, and get ideas worth-replicating where they live.
