Radhika Munshi, an alumna of IIT Roorkee and IIM Ahmedabad, has left her high-paying corporate job to start her own saree brand, Anorah. In a series of Instagram posts, she shared her journey from being a top student focused on securing the highest salary package to becoming an entrepreneur following her passion. “I have a degree…
two actually (from IIT and IIM) if you’re wondering,” Munshi wrote. “As one of the best-performing students in my class, I just wanted the highest salary package upon graduation. The thought of starting my own saree brand was nowhere on the horizon back then.”
Despite her initial focus on landing the best job offer, Munshi realized that life can take unexpected turns.
She took a leap of faith and left her well-paying corporate job to create Anorah in 2023. “I was so scared initially when I would design the sarees.
From IIT-IIM to saree entrepreneur
I would wonder if people would even like my sarees,” she admitted. Munshi also faced societal judgments and limited opinions on success. However, she persevered and found the entrepreneurial journey to be more thrilling and rewarding than any corporate paycheck could offer.
“The life of an entrepreneur is filled with ups and downs, and even the highest paycheck could never match the thrill that this journey brings,” she wrote. Since its launch, Anorah has received overwhelming support from customers, with many returning to purchase more sarees. Munshi expressed her gratitude, saying, “The love that I have received is extremely overwhelming.
When we read the DMs on how much our customers love our sarees, it just fills our hearts with so much pride.”
Radhika Munshi’s inspiring story showcases the power of following one’s passion and redefining success on one’s own terms. Her journey from IIT and IIM to entrepreneurship serves as a testament to the rewards of taking risks and pursuing one’s dreams.
