Why HopeHub.com–You Shop. We Donate to Your Cause. It Might Be A Killer
HopeHub was founded by two sisters, Melissa Richards and Katy Richards.
After their mom suffered a severe brain injury at the age of 49, the two gave up promising legal careers to take care of her around the clock at home. Being in and out of medical facilities while their mom received treatment, the two met many individuals and families in need. It was through their own life changing experience that the pair developed a camaraderie with people in similar situations and through which the idea for HopeHub was created.
Through their dedication and their mom’s determination, she has steadily improved over time. The top priority for the pair remains the care of their mom, which they continue to provide themselves at her home. They hope HopeHub will help other individuals and families in need, as well as groups that further medical research so that people with debilitating illnesses and injuries have the chance to recover.
Both Melissa and Katy have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Melissa formerly worked in close relation to various high-tech start-up companies in her role as an intellectual property lawyer, while Katy, a former collegiate runner, patented a training device for sprinters.
Both are sports enthusiasts, each having been involved in a number of athletic teams, both as participants and coaches, from pee-wee soccer to high school basketball to college track and field. They believe youth sports are a great activity for all children, as it teaches a good work ethic, and helps children enjoy being active and healthy. Having been involved in athletics for so many years, the pair know the fees for uniforms, team costs, camps and tournaments can add up and result in many children being unable to participate. One of HopeHub’s goals is to help raise funds for any youth sports team, so that all children who want to participate may have that opportunity. They similarly hope the site will help schools and other after school programs.
Dennis Richards and Daniel Richards, brothers of the founders, joined the company shortly after it was formed, adding valuable information technology expertise. They too, have provided much needed support for their mom and have witnessed the hardships other families in similar situations go through, whether it’s difficulty finding and obtaining available treatments or an inability to afford medical care. They’re proud to be involved with a service they hope will advance a variety of causes close to people’s hearts.
Together, the four siblings envisioned a site that was straightforward, free and accessible to any individual, family, group or organization in need of raising funds. With no registration requirements and no cost to use it, shopping through HopeHub makes sense. There’s no reason not to!
