Hello Kitty Island Adventure has arrived on the Nintendo Switch, bringing the popular mobile game to console players. The game, which was originally released on Apple Arcade in 2023, allows players to create their own Sanrio characters and explore a colorful tropical island. Players can engage in various activities such as collecting items, crafting gifts, and making new animal friends.
The game’s crafting system is simple and intuitive, allowing players to create a variety of items from food to plush toys. The gifting mechanism is central to the gameplay. By giving better gifts, players can enhance their friendship levels with the island’s inhabitants and unlock new story elements.
However, some players have found the constant need for gifting to progress to be repetitive and tedious. The game features a large, diverse island with eight distinct regions to explore, from the ocean’s depths to an island in the clouds.

Players can also renovate cabins and decorate them to attract even more characters. The character creator allows for some level of individuality, with players able to choose from various animals like birds, bunnies, and sheep. As players advance, they can unlock more avatar color options and occasional outfits.
Quests are unlocked by advancing friendships or progressing in the story, but some players have found them to be repetitive tasks such as solving simple puzzles or fetching items. Despite its charming graphics and nostalgic appeal, some players have found Hello Kitty Island Adventure to fall short in delivering a captivating long-term experience. The repetitive gifting system, lackluster quests, and limited customization options have left some players wanting more.
However, the game does offer a multiplayer mode where players can team up with real-world friends and family to explore, gain bonuses, and take snapshots together. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is now available on the Nintendo Switch, as well as on PC and iOS with Apple Arcade.
