Though claims that URLs is the new form of poetry might be a bit exaggerated for my taste, the truth remains that the girls behind this site have something of a joke thing happening in their address, firstly because the site is a kind of homage to Pussy Galore, an initially lesbian bond girl who eventually succumbs to the charms of 007. Add to that the fact that the site is run by smart women with not only some interesting things to say, but also good wording to go with that, and they sow, knit, do crotchet, needlepoint and other traditionally feminine needlework (which happen to be mostly fuzzy because of the wool), so whatever side you look into it, this site is subversive, and so much fun too! The idea is that it works as a library of patterns for sowing and knitting projects, open for anyone who cares to learn something new, regardless of how crafty –or not— the person is.
They also sell wholesale knitting supplies, but there is not much information on the topic available at the site, as they handle orders via email and not through an eCommerce platform. Happily, lots of unexpected aspects of knitting are contemplated, for instance a guide to the different kinds of needles, how Middle Ages mathematic thought can be very much related to knitting, of how to deal with patterns and thread if you are left-handed. If this is not patchwork quilting, I don’t think I can come up with a better example.
