Sean, a former Nintendo of America sales team member, predicts a June release date for the Nintendo Switch 2. He believes Nintendo aims to have the console available before the end of summer to capture the excitement of children finishing the school year. “They’re going to want the system to be out before the end of the summer,” Sean stated. “I think we’ll see a June launch. I’m thinking maybe mid-June or a little bit later than that. But definitely before the end of the summer, that thing’s coming out… there are good strategic reasons why that would be part of the consideration.”

Sean dismissed the notion that retailers have insider information about the Switch 2’s release date and price. When asked what retailers know about Switch 2, he replied, “Nothing.

Certainly not price. Almost certainly, there is no launch date other than maybe a quarter. It always makes me laugh to see articles like, ‘Walmart Canada says the price is going to be this’… Walmart Canada are the last people who are going to know.

He further explained, “There’s no way that even Target in the US would know anything… when we know the launch date, that’s probably when the retailers will know the launch date.

Maybe a week or two in advance.”

Nintendo often keeps vital details under wraps until official announcements. Last month, a teaser video featuring the console and its Joy-Cons was released, but the launch date was not specified. During a Direct broadcast in April, Nintendo plans to reveal more about the console.

In a recent shareholder Q&A, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized the company’s commitment to pricing its products affordably amidst shifting global economic conditions. He stated that Nintendo has to consider factors like Japan’s inflation rate and fluctuating exchange rates while also considering the affordability that customers expect from Nintendo. Fans and industry insiders are keenly awaiting further official details from the company as anticipation builds for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
