Follow Yours is self-defined as a “modern day newspaper”. Having tested it, I don’t know if that is entirely accurate.
I would say that it is more a modern day tool for remaining informed. I didn’t think of a newspaper when trying it. Yet, you can already see that the key concept here is staying abreast of the latest news. I guess it doesn’t matter if you call Follow Yours a newspaper or not. It will let you read about the most recent developments on your favorite topics. Period. And the novel bit is how that’s done.
Using Follow Yours involves specifying what you want to read by picking the relevant tag, and starting to follow it. That tag can be just anything – “Barack Obama”, “Mardi Grass”, “Miranda Lambert”… you start following it, and when news that are related are published online you will be instantly notified. In other words: you won’t have to look for the news any longer. You are going to let the news find you.
And you can also create group tags and gather all your interests together. This makes adding and removing new tags later on something notably simpler.
