The Future Innovation Tech Expo 2024 (FIX 2024) took place in Daegu, South Korea from October 23 to 26. The event showcased advanced technologies in mobility, robotics, AI, and ICT. It aimed to highlight Daegu’s transformation into a hub for new industries.

FIX 2024 featured four dedicated halls: the Mobility Hall, Robot Hall, ABB Hall, and Startup Hall. The Mobility Hall focused on electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles, autonomous driving, and Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Major companies like Hyundai, Kia, Samsung SDI, and GM participated.

The Robot Hall displayed manufacturing robots, AI-powered robots, and autonomous mobile robots from global companies. This aligns with Korea’s goal to become a top three robot-producing nation. The ABB Hall emphasized the role of ICT in driving future industries, with focuses on AI, blockchain, big data, and the metaverse.

Daegu plans to establish an 800-billion-won AI data center. The Startup Hall, in collaboration with Plug and Play, offered a platform for innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs.

It featured startup pitching events, networking opportunities, and investment discussions. International conferences covered key topics like UAM, robotics, AI, and cybersecurity. The expo attracted over 450 companies and 2,000 booths across 30,000 square meters of exhibition space.

Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo stated, “We are preparing FIX 2024 to become a global specialized exhibition comparable to the world’s top three IT exhibitions. We will spare no effort to establish Daegu as a central city for new industries through this event.”

FIX 2024 successfully recorded US$1.5 billion in potential sales. Over 200 overseas buyers attended, leading to 914 export consultations resulting in approximately $1.15 billion in potential sales and $160 million in contracts.

Around $50 million in purchasing consultations took place between large companies and SMEs. Expo Marketing Director Gyu-sik Kim expressed optimism about expanding the expo next year, potentially doubling the capacity in terms of exhibitors and visitors. The focus for the next iteration will be on increasing overseas publicity and attracting more international exhibitors.

FIX 2024 marks a significant step in Daegu’s transformation from a textile industrial hub to a burgeoning technology center. The event aims to facilitate collaboration between industries and engage the public by showcasing innovations shaping the future.
