The federal government has unveiled a free Artificial Intelligence (AI) Academy to position Nigeria as a global digital economy leader. Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, inaugurated the AI Academy in Abuja, noting that the program was established in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Intel Corporation. Minister Nnaji urged all Nigerians, particularly students, youths, and civil servants, to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of a movement that would redefine the nation’s future.
The free AI Academy registration is now open and will close on January 30, 2025. Interested participants can visit the official website to enroll and acquire cutting-edge AI skills.

Nnaji explained that the program provides access to self-paced courses covering AI fundamentals, ethics, tools, and real-world applications. Beyond learning AI technology, participants can compete for AI ambassadorial roles, internships with Intel Corporation, and gain hands-on global experience.
The minister emphasized the crucial role of AI in nation-building, describing it as a transformative tool that can drive progress in various sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, and security. By equipping Nigerians with these skills, we are preparing individuals for jobs and creating a pipeline of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders who will shape Nigeria’s technological and economic destiny,” he said. “Most importantly, AI will help us develop innovative solutions for the unique challenges we face as a nation.”
