Favicon.cc – Create Your Own Logo (Sort of)

  • July 10, 2007
  • Fred Inman

Favicon.ccFavicon aims to help you tap into your creative side by allowing you to create your own logo. You create your own logo using their square palette.

You click on the mouse, create your design, choose your color, and then download it onto your webserver directory. The process is simple. The results, really simple. As in old-school technology simple. There is not much you can do with a square palette, and the sample results proved that. The site lists the most recent logs and the highest rated, and they were less than interesting in my opinion. Some people definitely maximized the technology, but the reality is that this product or service is inherently limited in function or purpose. It is definitely only for fun and not for professional purposes – at least in my opinion. All logos created can be published under the Creative Commons license.

Favicon.cc In Their Own Words

Choose a color
Click on the squares and paint your logo
Download when you are finished
Put the favicon.ico file into your webserver directory
Optionally publish it under the CC (Creative Commons) license

Why Favicon.cc It Might Be A Killer

People like to get creative on the web, and this site offers that opportunity. While the creativity is limited, plenty of people have downloaded and created their own logo, so it is hard to completely dismiss the utility of this site. To each his own, and for some, this may be a great way to spend an evening.
