EGlints is basically Facebook before it opened up its membership to everyone. In order to use eGlints you must have college email address. Similar to Facebook, you set up a profile, then your page includes your information, thumbnails of your friends, photo albums, and a pin board that lets you leave comments for your friends (like the Facebook wall). There is also a section for the school buzz which lets you know what is going on around your University. The home page includes a news feed and update information with info on college events such as sports events. The friend buzz section is a blog where friends can keep in touch. It is nice to have a social network that focuses on a single group of people and a common bond between them. Although it is nice that Facebook now includes everyone, it was good when it was only used by students, it was a type of filter and you had a better idea of what kind of people you would be meeting. Since you can request that your school be added to that list hopefully it will grow because these social networks are the best the larger the network is and the more schools it includes.
