EcoTreadSetters.com In Their Own Words

“Welcome to the Yokohama EcoTreadsetters community, a forum for discussing all things environmental, providing global “green” news and informing members about Yokohama’s progress on the environmental front.
Planet Earth is faced with critical environmental challenges never before encountered. All of the companies in the international automotive arena — including my company, Japan-based Yokohama Rubber Company (YRC) — must examine our approach to global warming and the depletion of energy resources. The goal should be to immediately dedicate ourselves to helping this generation mobilize to create a sustainable society.
The YRC environmental plan is spotlighted in “Grand Design 100,” which has been created to coincide with our 100th anniversary in 2017. While Yokohama has already achieved significant environmental breakthroughs — such as complete zero emissions from all of our manufacturing locations in Japan and major reductions in CO2 emissions — Grand Design 100 is our corporate mandate for reducing the environmental impact made by every one of our products, including passenger, commercial and aircraft tires, conveyor belts, adhesives and sealants, fuel tanks and golf accessories.
Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC), our affiliate in the U.S., has already achieved their ISO 14001 certification, signifying adherence to international environmental objectives and targets as well as establishing and monitoring operational controls. I commend them for creating and serving as the host for this EcoTreadsetters site. In fact, all of Yokohama’s thousands of employees throughout the U.S. and across the globe are dedicated to utilizing our superior technological strengths to protect the environment. It is our duty as citizens of the world.
If all of us work together, we can assure that the earth will forever remain the blue planet.

Some Questions About EcoTreadSetters.com

EcoTreadSetters.com should feature an environmental glossary for those who want to get involved but know very little about the topic. It would also be nice if there was a section that featured a list of small day to day things that any person could do to help the environment. Also once they site becomes more popular, it would be great if people started to collaborate in real life. A section that listed local recycling centers would also be useful. EcoTreadSetters.com
