The first thing to do when a site that you want to access is not working is determining whether the site is down just for you, or for everybody else. This can be done in more ways than one – for example, if the site that has gone down is a popular one (IE Facebook) you will see a lot of messages on Twitter asking whether the network is down for everybody. That will be all the indication you could ever need that something is indeed wrong on a large scale.
Yet, there is an even faster way to arrive at that conclusion. And that is using this new service. Down Or Just Me is a simple resource where you can ask whether this or that site is down for you, or for just everybody. This is done simply by submitting its URL. Down Or Just Me will fetch the results, and present them right back to you.
The design of the site is rudimentary at best, but a resource of this nature does not need more in order to get its job done. It would be interesting to be able to see a list with all the most recent queries, though. That would let you realize which sites have been giving people trouble even quicker.
