Datazip, a data engineering startup based in Bengaluru, has secured $1 million in a seed funding round led by Equirus InnovateX Fund. The investment, which amounts to approximately Rs 6 crore, is a significant milestone for the startup. Datazip was co-founded in 2022 by Sandeep Devarapalli, an IIST and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus and former Space Scientist at ISRO; Shubham Baldava, an NIT Jamshedpur alumnus with over six years of experience working with three unicorns; and Rohan Khameshra, an IIT Kharagpur graduate who was a founding data team member at Rapido and Khatabook.

The founders aim to build composable lakehouse platforms that increase data engineers’ productivity by 10 times. The startup is dedicated to empowering data engineers to maximize their data assets by providing a suite of tools designed to meet the dynamic needs of the data ecosystem. This helps organizations optimize workflows and gain real-time insights.

Within just 12 months, Datazip has achieved product-market fit and onboarded 15 clients, with plans to grow tenfold over the next year.
