Corkboard is a new bookmarking community on the World Wide Web. It has the aim of making it easy for people to remember and recommend the stuff they have found, tried and liked.
Posting to corkboard is handled in a wide number of ways: web browser, texting and e-mail are currently supported, and a mobile app is underway.
The system analyzes what people have posted and complements each and every posting with the relevant data. For example, if people post the phone number of a grill bar they have tried out and liked, Corkboard adds the address of the venue as well as a map and photos. Links to related sites are likewise included. The same applies to products. This additional information is retrieved from a plethora of sources including Amazon, Upcoming and Yelp.
So far Corkboard understands photos of Barcodes, QR Codes, ISBNs, UPCs and phone numbers. The idea is to continually expand the featured database and make the real and the virtual world draw closer still.
