You can’t say this project lacks originality or ambition. It goes by the name of City Catalogue, and what it attempts to do is let anybody find a specific physical object in any part of the world.
As if that wasn’t aiming too high already, the site hopes to become an entirely multilingual entity.
The one and only way such a project could actually be carried out is by asking people all over the world to contribute to it, obviously. Anybody can add information about the city he lives in (or the one that he is familiarized with), and then focus on specific objects; note that the word “objects” is actually used in a sense that means sights and places. This signifies that through the site you will be able to include buildings that have a cultural significance along with airports, stations and trading complexes. You will also be enabled to add embassies and consulates.
When adding anything, you will also have the chance to leave a short comment and include information such as the telephone number that goes with it. And you can also supply opening hours and the value of tickets when you have pinpointed an attraction.
CityCatalogue.com In Their Own Words
“Citycatalogue is the first unique, multilanguage information base, which has no analogues on completeness of given data – millions of objects, cities and the countries.”
Why CityCatalogue.com It Might Be A Killer
It is an ambitious project, and if it takes off it can become something akin to a Wikipedia for places.
