With so many smaller companies tucked away in the expansive convention center halls, it’s often challenging to find the real standout startups. Industry leaders are excited to return to this premier event. They are looking forward to meeting with hardware startups.
If you’re eager to get your hardware startup in front of key reporters, this could be your chance. Teams will be scouring the convention to discover the most promising new technologies and products. Brian Heater, a seasoned Hardware Editor, will be leading the charge.

Brian brings a wealth of experience from his time at leading tech publications. These include Engadget, PCMag, Laptop, and Tech Times. His impressive portfolio includes contributions to Spin, Wired, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, The Onion, Boing Boing, Publishers Weekly, and The Daily Beast.
He’s also the host of the weekly Boing Boing interview podcast RiYL and has been a regular NPR contributor. Soon we’ll be in Las Vegas, along with roughly 100,000 of our closest friends in tech. As we dive headfirst into 2025, Las Vegas will be our first stop, hosting CES, the big kahuna of technology shows.
From Jan. 7-10, CES 2025 will give us a firsthand look at the tech that will define the next year. We’ll also be there a few days prior for early looks and exclusive press-only previews.
CES will kick off with back-to-back press conferences. The biggest names in tech, including Samsung, Sony, and LG, will unveil their latest products. Some of these innovations will be early-stage high-tech ideas, while others will be near-ready for market.
Our team will review and test these products to determine if they’re worth your investment. Last year, AI was a headline grabber but often felt as though it was more hype than substance.

At CES 2025, we’ll be looking for clear evidence that AI is making a real difference in products. We’re particularly interested in “ambient AI,” which aims to seamlessly integrate smart assistants into device interfaces. The evolution of technology couldn’t happen without advancements in chips.
Nvidia and AMD are expected to announce new chips, with partner companies unveiling devices featuring them. Nvidia’s upcoming CPUs and GPUs will excite gaming enthusiasts, while AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs will likely impress as well. Cars have become a mainstay at CES.
This year, expect to see more electric vehicles and innovative transportation concepts. Hyundai will show off the world’s first full-windshield holographic display, and BMW will debut its Panoramic iDrive display. Honda is teasing prototype 0 Series EVs, and Sony might reveal the Sony-Honda Afeela car with a built-in PS5.
As the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 approaches, it’s clear that the event is no longer confined to consumer technology. Kinsey Fabrizio, president of the US-based Consumer Technology Association (CTA), emphasizes that CES has evolved to encompass a wide range of industries. “CES offers a glimpse into the future,” Fabrizio stated in a video interview.
“Nothing beats the energy of being in person. CES is about the serendipity of discovery — meeting someone in line for coffee who could become your next business partner or seeing a product that changes the way you live.”
With around 140,000 attendees from CES 2024, including a significant international presence, the upcoming 2025 event is expected to be even larger, featuring attendees from over 150 countries. Although the final numbers are yet to be confirmed, early indications suggest a strong turnout, with increased innovation award entries and speaker submissions.
Fabrizio highlighted the shift from consumer technologies to enterprise tools, noting examples like AI-powered smartphones that facilitate work-related activities through apps like Zoom, Teams, or Slack. This shift is reflected in the event’s speaker lineup, featuring notable figures such as Nvidia founder Jensen Huang, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, and Waymo co-CEO Tekedra N. Mawakana. The focus of CES has broadened to include sectors such as mobility, healthtech, and sustainable energy.
The West Hall, for instance, now features advancements in vehicle technology, including contributions from manufacturers like Oshkosh and John Deere. The North Hall emphasizes future work technologies, encompassing AI, cloud computing, sustainability, and smart city initiatives. Stay tuned for all the latest updates and coverage from CES 2025.
