I just can’t help but wonder if this site would have existed if Facebook hadn’t come up with the “Open” concept so notoriously. I mean, a link can be discerned in every sense – what CC: Everybody does is to turn your inbox into a public entity.
More precisely, it will let you turn some conversations taking place inside your inbox public. The reasoning behind such a site is that many conversations that take place within an inbox could appeal or benefit far more people than you and the sender. By turning that particular correspondence free, you are avoiding the hassle of cc’ing everybody.
That point of view is certainly true when we are talking about work – if your boss sends you an email in which he commands you to fill all your co-workers in when it comes to a new assignment of tasks you could simply make the conversation go public and do as ordered in a matter of seconds.
Of course, that does not apply to personal correspondence, at least not in my mind. But if you think otherwise, you will be able to put this service to excellent use. Just make sure you are not releasing information the other person wants you to keep as private.
