What is the ultimate sign of recognition a service has? I know that different people would give you radically diverging opinions, but having a directory of apps when a service is barely a month old is quite a distinction. That is what has happened with Buzz, the service everybody has heard about by now.
While the service is not strictly there to dethrone Twitter, it does have what it takes for stealing some of the blue bird’s thunder. And that is specially evident when one sees the applications that are already found within this database. These include one for updating Facebook, Twitter and Buzz at the same time (effectively levelling the playing field), one for buzzing from your mobile and another for replicating TweetMeme by adding Buzz buttons to every site. There is also an app that provides the exact equivalent to Twitter’s Identi.ca
As you can see, the line is trod too closely to say that Buzz and Twitter are good friends. I think that are on speaking terms… for now. If you want to see how that relationship evolves, checking this site regularly might provide you with an excellent insight app by app.
