BMW M5 Touring exceeds US sales expectations

BMW’s M5 Touring is selling better than expected in the United States. The company thought that two-thirds of production would be the sedan and one-third the wagon. But demand for both models has been higher than planned.

“We now see that there’s more demand for the sedan,” said Sylvia Neubauer, BMW’s Vice President of Customer, Brand, and Sales. “So we’ve increased production there. But there’s even more demand for the Touring.

So the increase on the Touring is much higher.”

Production of the M5 sedan and wagon is currently split evenly. The M5 Touring has the same hybrid V-8 engine as the sedan.

Demand increases for BMW M5 Touring

It makes 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The wagon weighs 5,530 pounds but can still go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It also has a range of about 25 miles on just electricity.

The success of the 2025 M5 Touring in the US doesn’t mean the M3 Touring will come here right away. VP of Product Andreas Meyer said in August, “If [the] M5 Touring does well enough, maybe the next generation [of the M3 Touring] could come [to America].” BMW never planned to bring the current M3 Touring to the US. But future models might be available.

BMW will keep watching how the market responds. It will change its production plans if needed.
